The New York Times has a new series featuring artists and critics at large sharing their favorite recordings “That Will Make You Love the Violin” — and include two recent Delos recordings in their “5 Minutes That Will Make You Love the Violin” playlist on Spotify.
“Jörg Widmanns’s book of 24 duos for violin and cello is basically a breathtaking 24-course meal… It tickles my fears both personal and global. A gesture both devastating and detached is a tricky thing to compose, but I think this two-minute cycle of sighs nails it.”
—Pekka Kuusisto, violinist
Delos recordings featured in the playlist are Reena Esmail‘s (who can be heard now on two Delos releases) Jhula-Jhule from Esther Park and Dawn Wohn‘s Perspectives album and the Jörg Widmann 24 Duos recording referenced above from Ilya Gringolts and Dmitry Kouzov‘s Eisler • Ravel • Widmann Duos album.
