The UK’s Opera Magazine’s February 2022 issue features a new review for Lawrence Brownlee, Sarah Coburn, and Constantine Orbelian’s I Puritani recording:
“Coburn…combines technical accomplishment with sensitive bel canto singing… accurate and affecting. Lawrence Brownlee’s free emission and tonal vitality are prime assets among his credentials for an eager, dynamic Arturo also notable for keen attention to text. High notes are no problem: in the big ensemble ‘Credeasi, misera!’ he goes for the famous high F—and with success. With a good top register, Zheltyrguzov’s appealingly fluttery baritone helps make him a positive Riccardo… As Elvira’s kindly uncle Giorgio, Tadas Girininkas’s solid bass exemplifies warmth, decency and concern… The conductor Constantine Orbelian proves a fine advocate for the score. Summoning up plenty of vitality, he maintains a sense of discipline combined with flexibility, conveying a strong sense of the piece as a dramatic entity.”
