Below Lindsay Koob translates the fantastic Pizzicato Magazine review of Sean Hickey’s Cursive release. Read the full review in the original language at www.pizzicato.lu.
“Delos has devoted a CD to the chamber music of the New York composer Sean Hickey. Entitled “Cursive,” the CD brings ensemble music to our ears; also solo piano music that – thanks to pianist Philip Edward Fisher’s excellent playing – achieves tremendous effect. The other pieces are also brilliantly played by violinist Julia Sakharova, flutist Brandon Patrick George and Harpist Meredith Clark, revealing an interesting composer who should be taken seriously and whose uninhibited natural expressiveness displays considerable character. The music – with its rhythmic drive and thoroughly modern-sounding harmonics – is just as elegant as it is expressive.” —Remy Franck, Pizzicato
