Many people have been introduced to ragtime music at a Disney theme park. On the 1900s-style Main Streets of these parks you’ll often find the Main Street Pianist, still performing ragtime music today, just as at the turn of the century. So, it seems fitting to present ragtime arrangements of music from the Disney parks. The flying fingers of Chris Calabrese have brought him recognition as the Main Street Pianist in Disney theme parks from America to Japan. Since the melodies on this album are taken from the four Disney resorts around the world, it is appropriate that they are performed by Chris. Chris is not only an outstanding and skilled ragtime piano player, but has captured the essence of ragtime in his own arrangements of these theme park selections. From the slower and more relaxed style reminiscent of Joplin, to the fast and jazzy style of Jelly Roll Morton, ‘Ragtime at the Magical Kingdoms’ is an excellent study of ragtime music while bringing back fond memories of some of the happiest places on Earth!
