Jamie Barton, the acclaimed young mezzo-soprano, will return to the Metropolitan Opera in September as Giovanna Seymour in Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena,” the company announced Thursday. … “Anna Bolena,” starring Sondra Radvanovsky, opens Sept. 26, when Ms. Barton had been scheduled to sing in a benefit concert for the Historic DeSoto Theater in her hometown, Rome, Georgia. The Rome theater agreed to shift the date of the concert to accommodate Ms. Barton’s Met appearance; the benefit will now be held Sept. 27.
