Remy Franck’s Pizzicato magazine reviews Emanuele Segre, Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali, and Carlo Boccadoro’s Italian Guitar Concertos recording:
“The award-winning [Emanuele Segre] presents a mixture of well-known and less well-known repertoire. He begins with his own transcriptions of the beautiful Vivaldi aria Ah, ch’infelice sempre, which immediately shows the main feature of Segre’s playing: the cantabile! The charm of this piece is irresistible. … The orchestra[‘s]… playing fits in with that of the soloist, who aims for a beautiful sound and lyricism. The composition by Giovanni Sollima (*1962) takes us into another world. It is more modern, but also very eloquent and sometimes even quite dramatic. Segre’s performance is colourful and elegant. … The last work, Dulcis Memoria II, is by the conductor of the CD, Carlo Boccadoro. This technically demanding piece is brilliantly played too.”
