If you read the Delos Insider blog regularly, you already know that – like Larry’s first Delos release (Virtuoso Rossini Arias, DE 3455) in 2016 – his second release on Delos – Allegro io son (DE 3515) – has earned a second straight ICMA nomination in the Vocal Recital category!
After we at Delos had basked for awhile in the glory of such a distinction, it occurred to us that – aside from Constantine Orbelian and his most excellent Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra and the Kaunas State Choir – we hadn’t given due credit to the outstanding Lithuanian singers who helped make his second album for Delos the best that it could be!
So here’s a hearty WELL DONE from Delos, plus our undying gratitude, to the following outstanding artists who stepped in to fill the supporting roles in several of the album’s arias:
- Soprano Viktorija Miskunaite, who greatly enhanced two arias from Bellini’s I Puritani.
- Bass Liudas Mikalauskas, who added spice to arias by Bellini (I Puritani) and Donizetti (La Fille du Regiment).
- Baritone Andrius Apsega: another terrific contributor in one of the I Puritani numbers.
Given the several operatic albums Delos has recorded in Kaunas (with more to come), it is good to know that there are such accomplished singers as these whom we can call upon at need to help us make award-winning new CDs!
