Carol Rosenberger, piano; Gerard Schwarz, Conductor

“Ravishing, elegant pianism” —The New York Times

Featuring the internationally celebrated pianist and longtime Delos recording artist Carol Rosenberger, A Concerto Collection is a diverse and dazzling two-CD collection (single-CD price) showcasing six outstanding examples of her award-winning discography. As Carol explains it, “Each concerto recording in this collection originally appeared as the solo turn on a symphonic album conducted by Gerard Schwarz. Jerry and I both relished the chance to present piano and orchestra repertoire that was ‘right’ for the symphonic program and in some cases underserved on recording.”

The varied program offers the second and fifth Haydn concertos, R. Strauss’s Burleske, Hanson’s Concerto in G Major and Fantasy Variations on a Theme of Youth, and Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain. Carol’s hallmark blend of polished virtuosity and poetically engaging interpretations nestle beautifully into Maestro Schwarz’s compelling readings as he leads four distinguished ensembles: the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, the New York Chamber Symphony and the London Symphony.
